Warning! Your PHP configuration limits the maximum number of fields allowed in a form

max_input_vars warning translation prestashop

“Warning! Your PHP configuration limits the maximum number of fields allowed in a form 2000 for max_input_vars. Please ask your hosting provider to increase this limit to 3068 at least, or you will have to edit the translation files.”

Are you getting the above warning message in PrestaShop translations configuration?

There are several options you can use to fix this issue:

  1. Contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase the limit of the max_input_vars php variable
  2. Edit your php.ini file as described in this prestashop blog post. https://www.prestashop.com/blog/en/php-ini-file/
  3. or my favorite is to simply edit the .htaccess file and add the following line (note: replace 4000 with the maximum number of input variables that you want to allow):
    php_value max_input_vars 4000

You will find the hidden .htaccess file in the root folder of where you installed prestashop.  If using cPanel’s file explorer make sure you check the box “show hidden files” otherwise the .htaccess file is hidden. Refer to below screenshots:

cpanel file explorer show hidden files

cpanel edit htaccess file

Below is a screenshot of the line php_value max_input_vars 4000 added to the .htaccess file:
